Welcome to MamaDances.
With Spring comes the annual Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT) workshop at Studio 303. This is a dance technique that changed my world as a young dance artist, has influenced every aspect of my life and continues to do so now in my roles as researcher and teacher. SRT fully and mutually embraces the creative and the technical aspirations of a dancer/choreographer while cultivating and holding a space of personal growth and awareness through movement. It is the best movement focused creativity training available. I hope you can join me at Studio 303 April 8-12 , 9:30-12:30.
There are loads of new and exciting things happening at MamaDances right now:
- The Mom and Baby Teachers Training Program is now available Online in French and in English. This online training supports teachers who wish to start something similar to MamaDances in their own communities. Three teacher participants are currently trying out this program and providing their feedback. There is one more discount space available in French which would complete the test group of participants from Spain, England and Toronto. I am very excited about the potential global reach of this program.
- An adapted version of he our Parent Child Program in German is being developed by Karin Gausterer who completed her training with MamaDances last summer.
- In January I had the opportunity to facilitate a workshop hosted by CFAD ( Continuté-famille auprès des détenus) with 6 mothers and their children.
- MamaDances is collaborating with The National Centre for Dance Therapy to offer a parent and baby class for families with special needs. This is a pilot project that will begin April 22.
- MamaDances is beneficiary of a collaboration between YES Montreal and John Molson School of Business-Concordia University. We look forward to having a new plan to move forward in business!
- MamaDances will be represented in a new promotion incentive funded by Sun Life Financial: Lumino Santé
Spring registration for Parent Child and Mom and Baby programs are in process. The discounts available for classes in Mile End, Plateau Mont-Royal, Villeray/ Petite Patrie and Verdun include those for returning families, those who join with a friend and those who help us to promote.
Thank you for your continued interest, support, encouragement, recommendations and ...faith.
I hope to see you soon, Eryn |

Collaboration with National Centre for Dance Therapy

 |
Together, MamaDances and the National Centre for Dance Therapy are developing an original program servicing families with special needs, and parents or caregivers with unique interests or challenges in building strong bonds with their babies. The program combines the MamaDances approach with the expertise of a Certified Dance Movement Therapist. Those who might benefit may include for example: mothers who are at risk of postnatal depression, or anxiety , single parents, parents with twins, traumatic labor or, for example, mothers/ parents of babies at risk of difficulties in development. Mother/parents that take part in the classes will have the option to consult with a dance therapist, in a private setting, depending on the need.
This is a pilot project beginning April 29. Please call 514 849-0269 for more info |

Parent Child Program in German with Karin
Karin Gausterer completed the MamaDances Teachers Training Program last summer. Since then she has been at work adapting the Parent and Child Dance Program for those who want to expose their children to the German language and German/ Austrian culture.
Karin is originally from Austria and she is mother to a wonderful little Emma. Her love for music and dancing and the desire to share her passions with her daughter, drew her to participate in both the MamaDances Programs, which he enjoyed immensely. She found the educational children songs, interactions and child relevant themes could be a great approach to language development.
These classes will be an opportunity for the German language to be experienced in motion, with various styles of music and a great portion of fun, here in Montreal. In keeping with the MamaDances style her program includes rhythms and songs from different cultures and various music styles, with a particular German content including waltz music, traditional and contemporary German children songs as well as German/Austrian Pop songs.
When: Sundays 3p.m. Where: Tutudeluxe, 3785 Rue Jean-Talon Ouest QC H3R 2G4, Montreal Info: emaill: [email protected] phone: 438-398-7256

JMSB student business plan project
MamaDances is the beneficiary of a partnership between YES Montreal and The John Molson School of Business, JMSB.
The undergrad BComm students at JMSB, studying entrepreneurship, are required to learn about and write a business plan for an existing business. MamaDances was chosen by the students to be the subject of their business writing project. We are delighted, and look forward to venturing into uncharted territory of financing options and new partnerships, with a business plan with a progressive young perspective in hand.

Testimonial
I had the privilege of attending MamaDances with Eryn Dace Trudell some months after the birth of my children. Each of the class hours was for me and my children unique and privileged moments, allowing me: - A refreshing break in the demanding life of a parent of a newborn - Unforgettable moments of play and creativity shared with a little child who has just been born - Extraordinary moments of closeness with my children, promoting mutual attachment - A time to take care of the body and mind after the demanding crossing of childbirth, breastfeeding requests to the body, and family adjustments following the birth of children.
