Dear friends, family, colleagues and dance enthusiasts,

I hope you are having a cosy and happy winter season and that you and your people are well.

MamaDances has accomplishments enormous feats over the last few years, and there are exciting projects underway today.  I am further developing my program content and embarking on a video archival project of the pedagogy. The focus of the company is shifting to support the training of teachers who wish to bring MamaDances into their own communities near and far.

I am certain that 2016 will bring delightful surprises, full of abundance and knowledge and that I, along with many wonderful teachers will continue to share and expand this concept, offering a transformational experience to you, your children and your communities in future.

I  have had to suspend the programming of classes in Toronto. This suspension gives me time to consolidate, recuperate and re-evaluate.  The development and implementation of a new business strategy and marketing tools are essential to go further.  The unique, high caliber, innovative and artistic nature of this program merits better management and stronger representation in the market.

I am so grateful to the teachers who have stayed with me, patiently waiting for the momentum to pick up.  Jessica Runge and Robin McPhail Demsey, are amazing. They are passionate and resourceful artists and teachers who have supported MamaDances with limitless generosity, all the way along. There is no underestimating the value of excellent and faithful teachers.

I am also grateful to the studios that trusted us with the use of their spaces, supporting and encouraging our idea: Swansea Town Hall, Artscape Youngplace, Trinity St Pauls' Church, Moksha Yoga St. Clair,Yoga House, St Barnabus Church and The Creative Children's Dance Centre.

Please stay with me.
Have a great day.

Eryn

MamaDances Workshop for Teachers,  Florianopolis, Santa Caterina, Brazil.

There is a calling for woman to congregate, share, mobilize, organize, support and motivate each other in creative and unique ways. MamaDances answers this call. Here, instead of filling many pages of writing about my experience in Brazil, I offer images from the experience. I am grateful for the generosity and support from all who made it possible for me  to travel  for 21 days. While there,  I had the additional pleasure of teaching  Skinner Releasing Technique, Applications to Performance and Choreography and Contact Improvisation in Curitiba, as well as the week-long Mom and Baby Teachers Workshop. This was the first, of what I envision to be many, teachers workshops to come. The doors are opening to MamaDances around the world and MamaDances shifting focus to support that initiative.
An enormous thank you to Assistant Professor Bianca Scliar, and the support of The Canada Council for the Arts, for helping to realize this dream.

SRT is a dance practice for all those with an interest in engaging in the dynamic dialogue between imagination and movement. Guided poetic imagery, music and hands-on partner studies facilitate deep kinaesthetic experience. The practice stimulates the process of letting go of one’s tension and holding patterns releasing new possibilities in how we perceive and how we dance.

Eryn is one of three Certified Canadian teachers of this revolutionary approach to dance training which has significantly influenced contemporary dance as we understand it today.
