Quartier Danse 2017 presents... Montmentum
maternity unites humanity.
MamaDances will engage in a large scale performance project, inviting ten community groups of volunteer dyads to experience an artistic creative process, culminating in the gathering of one hundred mothers/fathers dancing together with their babies, beheld by family, friends and the greater public at Lac aux Castors, Park Mont- Royal on September 10, 2017.
Montmentum is a collective celebration that embodies, through movement, music and social engagement, the beauty of unity in the common goal of raising children in peace, harmony, and freedom. It is a manifestation of maternity in movement and a show of solidarity for women and humanity as a whole; beautiful and enlightened moving into the future together…..
This project will give the opportunity for those who wish to explore, with others and their babies an artistic process that will focus on creation and exploration through movement and music and culminate in performance. It will celebrate the dynamic collaborative and cohesive ethno-cultural diversity across our city, and the aesthetic values of love, care, beauty and compassion that is the maternal bond and which connects and units all of humanity. Rehearsals will begin August 18. There are many opportunities to get involved with this project. We need , volunteer dyads, community partners, a project manager and a promotion coordinator, sponsors and fundraisers ! Please contact us for more details and to get involved.

Skinner Releasing Technique is a dance training methodology combining technique with creative process, which is greatly influencing today's dancing aesthetics. By cultivating effortlessness, one begins letting go of unnecessary holding in the physical self, gaining flexibility, efficiency, freedom. Through guided imagery, music and hands-on partner studies the practice facilitates a deep kinesthetic experience of movement and in time a shedding of outer layers. It is an experiential, intuitive approach that utilizes imagery as a powerful tool for transformation. Open to all, with or without formal movement training. www.skinnerreleasingnetwork.org
