I hope you are having a nice Sunday.
Alongside the research that I am presently conducting at The University of Quebec in Montreal ( UQAM) about Mother and Baby Dance, and the daily tasks of running a business, three wonderful teaching engagements kept me moving this season . I taught Skinner Releasing Technique at the Teachers Forum, hosted by Kelli Keenan at Studio 303, a replacement engagement at Concordia University and then I finally found myself again teaching at Cirque du Soleil.
Then...
I had the opportunity to spend 5 days alone in the beautiful Caledon, Ontario landscape at The ValleyView Artists Retreat. ...Five days without traffic, or the feeling of hurrying, ignoring or neglecting; without chaos. Solo time. All mine. It was my first time. Ever. The sighting of a wolf, a stag and a doe, an inspiring book, immersion in nature, a picturesque landscape, a phone call from an old friend, a visit with a new friend, a letter of support written. A satisfying week. Soft progress. In the face of that kind of pleasure and time , Office 365, Moodle, Kajabi, Quickbooks, Mailchimp, Bookeo, LimeSurvey, Google for Business, Facebook, Instagram, G suite, Nvivo ...don't seem so daunting.

On Tuesday December 4, MamaDances was hosted for a second time by LaBibliothèque de La Petite-Patrie . Myself and 10 parent child dyads had a great amount of fun together, thanks to the generosity and space provided by the city.

New Location
Corps et Âme Centre culturel Jacques Ferron, 100, rue Saint-Laurent ouest, Longueuil Harmony, pleasure and perfection ... L'école Corps et Âme en mouvement, located in Longueuil, on the South Shore of Montreal, offers a variety of dance and music courses from various cultures. It is also the leader in Montérégie for the animation of dance workshops and world music.

MOMentum
This short documentary by journalist Krystle Alarcon, provides a small glimpse of our performance project this summer.

| 21 mothers danced with their babies in a 25 minute choreography that we built together over the course of the summer. Three groups rehearsed in different locations once per week from July to August. We rehearsed at the dance terrace in Verdun, at Park Jarry in Villeray and at MAM autours de la maternité in St-Hubert, Longueuil. Our alternate locations to avoid heat, rain and to have enough space for everyone and everything included Centre Père Marquette, Fleur d'asphalte, Espace Varana, UQAM Dance Department and the studios of Le Grands Ballets Canadien. The show took place, despite the odds, on August 25th under a beautiful blue sky at Beaver Lake in Mont-Royal Park in Montreal. I am extremely proud. We did an amazing job putting it together in a very short time and MOMentum was a beautiful choreographic achievement. |
